What are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are a minimally invasive procedure that do not require any major incisions or general anesthesia. PDO threads are dissolvable sutures that have tiny barbs strategically placed and molded all around the thread. The barbs are inserted into the face and anchor onto sagging skin and the thread can be maneuvered to achieve a naturally youthful and defined look.

What can PDO threads treat?

PDO threads can be combined with a PDO thread lift or used alone to improve acne scars, volume and even enhance lip borders. It is often referred to as a non surgical face lift. Not only can it improve the appearance of sagging skin, PDO (polydioxanone) can also help promote the stimulation of collagen production and neovascularization, which helps to improve skin elasticity, texture, fine lines, and volume for a timeless rejuvenation. We recommend a consultation prior to scheduling this procedure as not everyone is a candidate. Megan has successfully been performing PDO thread lifts since 2016 and trains other injectors on this procedure at Academy of Aesthetics school in Scottsdale.

PDO threads can be used in areas of the face such as cheeks, jowls, marionette lines, neck and jawline. It is also not uncommon to see threads being used in unison with lip filler to reinforce and sharpen the border. Megan is also trained in treating some of the more invasive services like a nose lift and brow lift with threads. PDO threads are also a quick and simple way to boost collagen production in addition to lifting, tightening and giving the skin a smooth appearance.

Are PDO threads better than Botox or filler?

It is hard to compare all three treatments since the products are used to achieve different results. While each treatment is good for aging, smoothing wrinkles and folds they still have different purposes. Botox will temporarily freeze muscles to prevent them from contracting. Dermal fillers are known for restoring volume and filling in fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. PDO Threads will give results closer to a facelift surgery rather than Botox or dermal fillers. It is important to have an in office consultation to confirm that you are a good candidate and can get the results you expect from the treatment.

Does a PDO thread lift hurt?

Although it is a much simpler procedure than surgery with much less recovery time, this treatment is performed with local anesthetic. In our Scottsdale office we recommend our clients arrive early for topical numbing and take Tylenol prior. Soreness and bruising can last up to two weeks.
